Tax Accountant, Business Tax Advisory, Real Estate (Manager) (Multiple Positions), Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, Charlotte, NC.

Provide business tax services to help real estate sector clients meet complex demands for tax reporting, compliance and planning, and tax policy and controversy. Translate accounting and auditing challenges into effective tax strategies. Prepare effective approaches to clients’ tax needs through automatic and non-automatic accounting method changes. Develop and execute authoritative strategic plans in areas related to real estate income taxation. Apply an understanding of an evolving portfolio of complex global tax rules affecting the real estate, hospitality and construction sectors to provide meaningful business insights. Required to obtain a CPA, JD or other alternate certifications based on approval from practice leadership within one year from hire date. Manage and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.


Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, , Business, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience in income taxation; OR a Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Business, or a related field, and 4 years of related work experience in income taxation.

Must have 4 years of experience in real estate tax technical and transaction areas, including partnership taxation and allocations, fund taxation, cross-border taxation, tax compliance, tax due diligence, acquisition/disposition planning and structuring.

Must have 3 years of real estate tax advisory experience in a professional services firm, law firm, or mid-size/regional to large sized/national public accounting firm.

Must have 2 years of experience in managing budgets, people and projects.

Must have 2 years of experience guiding junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals.

Must have 2 years of experience researching tax trends, developments, and technical authorities and applying them to clients’ tax situations.

Requires up to 10% travel to meet client needs.
