Position Summary
As relentless champions of hope, Fight Colorectal Cancer relies on strong financial stewardship to fund breakthrough research, drive policy change, and support patients. The part-time Staff Accountant handles day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close. Working under the Director of Operations and alongside the Budget Analyst, this role helps prepare financial reports, grant tracking schedules, and supporting documentation for internal reporting, the annual audit, and Form 990.
This position is well suited for an experienced accountant seeking a reduced work schedule while continuing to apply their skills and contribute meaningfully to our organization.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain the general ledger and process accounts payable and accounts receivable with accurate coding.
Prepare month-end close entries, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules, for review by the Director of Operations.
Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts, and reconcile revenue from fundraising events, campaigns, and donation platforms against the donor database.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules used for internal and Board reporting.
Partner with the Budget Analyst to cross-check reconciliations and financial reports for accuracy and consistency with the general ledger before they are finalized.
Track grant and contract spending against funder budgets and prepare supporting schedules for grant reports, under the direction of the Director of Operations.
Record and track restricted and unrestricted funds and apply functional expense allocations across program, management, and fundraising categories.
Provide data and supporting detail for the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
Support year-end close, the annual audit, and Form 990 preparation with documentation and supporting schedules.
Follow Fight CRC's financial policies, internal controls, and separation of duties.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
Maintain organized, audit-ready financial documentation.
Perform other accounting duties as assigned within available hours.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of accounting experience, with a solid working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end close.
Proficiency with QuickBooks.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and reconciliations.
Working understanding of GAAP and an interest in nonprofit fund accounting and functional expense allocation.
Understanding of internal controls and separation of duties.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
Ability to work collaboratively with other finance staff, including peer review of financial work.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines within a part-time schedule.
Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
Nonprofit or fund accounting experience.
Experience tracking grant budgets or supporting grant reporting.
Experience supporting audits and Form 990 preparation.
Familiarity with donor databases/CRM and fundraising or event revenue reconciliation.
