Palm House is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to the success of a luxury boutique hotel.

The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, assist with month-end closing, and help ensure compliance with established financial controls and procedures. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and committed to accuracy, confidentiality, and timely follow-through.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity.
Review financial transactions for accuracy, appropriate coding, and proper documentation.
Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash-management functions as needed.
Assist with daily revenue reconciliation and review hotel operating reports.
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies promptly.
Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
Follow established internal controls, accounting procedures, and company policies.
Collaborate with hotel departments to obtain financial information and resolve questions.
Protect confidential employee, guest, vendor, and company information.
Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two years of accounting experience; hotel or hospitality accounting experience is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end closing procedures.
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial spreadsheets.
Experience working with accounting, payroll, and hotel-management systems is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready financial records.
Flexibility to work additional hours during month-end, year-end, audits, and other critical business periods when necessary.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift or carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
