JOB STATEMENT
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will perform daily accounting tasks including bank reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable and payable, using financial technology systems, and other select finance-related administration. The Senior Accountant ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial statements and maintains fiscal records for the entities assigned. The Senior Staff Accountant serves as the primary contact for internal staff on journal entries, month end close, invoices, bill payments, cash receipts and revenue, and budgets. The Senior Staff Accountant also trains staff to use software that streamlines processes and improves distribution and accessibility of financial information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Overall review, reconciliation, and maintenance of general ledger account postings.
1. Responsible for accurate and timely month end reporting for assigned entities.
2. Review staff accountant’s preparation of monthly close supporting workpapers.
3. Assist Controller in preparation of monthly financial statements.
4. Assist with fiscal year-end close
5. Aid in review of general ledger postings and assist the accounting department with project setup, cost codes and categories in accounting software.
6. Support Controller and executive management with ad-hoc reporting requests.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and Controller.
COMPENTENCIES:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Ability to prioritize as well as problem solve.
3. Attention to detail and ability to meet time requirements for settlements.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality in financial matters
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
2. 3+years in financial management and accounting, preferably in the construction industry
3. CPA certification is a plus
4. Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
5. Proficiency and firsthand experience with financial management software (e.g., Oracle, Sage Intacct) required.
6. Strong time management and organizational skills
