GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in supporting our company’s financial integrity by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. This position will be responsible for performing complex accounting tasks, including month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting, while maintaining adherence to GAAP standards. The Staff Accountant serves as a key member of the finance team, contributing to high-level financial decisions and supporting continuous improvement within the accounting function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and recommend adjustments to support business objectives.
Month-End Close Process
Execute month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
General Ledger Maintenance
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring alignment with GAAP standards.
Perform account analysis and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Budgeting and Forecasting Support
Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
Provide support to management by supplying financial insights that drive strategic decision-making.
Compliance & Audit Support
Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
Prepare and provide supporting documentation for audits, including account reconciliations and other financial reports.
Process Improvement Initiatives
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations.
Work with the finance team to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Required Knowledge:
Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant accounting principles.
Knowledge of financial reporting tools and ERP systems; experience with [specific ERP software] preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
Experience within a corporate finance environment, ideally in a multi-entity or multi-location organization.
Skills/Abilities:
Analytical Skills: Able to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
Diligence: Thorough and meticulous, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliations.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders clearly.
Time Management: Capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a challenging environment.
