This role is responsible for overseeing and executing general accounting operations, including the control, verification, and posting of vendor invoices, monthly bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures. The Senior Staff Accountant exercises sound judgment, ensures compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and acts as a finance partner to internal stakeholders, vendors, and management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in high-volume AP environments, with the ability to work cross-functionally and contribute to process improvements. Daily interaction with vendors, employees, and customers is required, and a high level of professionalism is expected at all times.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth, Texas.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Owns the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing of invoices and expense reports.
Analyzes and records expenses to the appropriate accounts and cost centers, including review of supporting documentation and approvals.
Manages vendor payments by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal ID numbers, and ensuring compliance with Company policies.
Resolves complex purchase order, contract, invoice, and payment discrepancies; ensures credits are received for outstanding items.
Reviews and approves employee expense reports and prepares related payments in compliance with Company policy.
Maintains accounting ledgers by reviewing and posting AP-related transactions.
Prepares analyses of accounts and produces monthly reporting schedules related to AP.
Identifies opportunities to improve AP processes, controls, and efficiency.
Provides backup support for Accounts Receivable and other accounting functions as needed.
General Finance
Takes ownership of month-end close responsibilities related to AP and general ledger activities.
Prepares, reviews, and posts journal entries, including bank reconciliations, prepaid assets, and accruals.
Performs and reviews balance sheet account reconciliations; investigates and resolves variances.
Maintains historical accounting records and ensures appropriate documentation is retained.
Prepares year-end audit schedules and serves as a primary point of contact for AP-related audit inquiries.
Provides ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and accounting support to management as requested.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong AP and general ledger exposure.
Must possess strong time management, attention to detail, and data entry skills for this role
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, strong Excel skills
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
Ability to take on multiple projects and manage deadlines efficiently
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and month-end close processes.
