DescriptionSummary:
This job is responsible for cash accounting, operating expense accruals, reclassifications, lease accounting, prepaid accounting, and respective reconciliations for the company. The Accountant will provide accounting support in accordance with US GAAP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.
Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.
Partner with Finance & Accounting colleagues to coordinate and execute the monthly accrual process. Record monthly accruals for external vendors relating to spending on contractors, purchasing card, etc.
Prepare and post month-end close and accounting transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
Record Leasing activities in the ERP system.
Perform GL account analysis, and account reconciliations.
Maintain a control environment in which the processes are consistent company policies.
Recommend process improvements and participate in or lead cross-functional initiatives to implement best practices.
Interact with external auditors to ensure the quarterly review and audit activities are executed in a timely manner.
Interact with external auditors to ensure financial statements are presented accurately and filed on time.
Support ERP enhancements, reporting tool enhancements and UAT testing.
Perform accounting sub-function and preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results.
Coordinate schedules, activities and reports with other departments.
Establish and maintain operating procedures within the context of existing company policies.
Prepare journal entries (with appropriate supporting documentation) for the month-end close and accounting transactions.
Maintain, reconcile and resolve reconciling items for balance sheet accounts.
Prepare analysis and schedules for management as well as auditor
Train coworkers in other functions on the proper use of accounting software and tools.
Gain the cooperation of others, conduct presentations or provide technical information concerning specific project
Develop, plan and implement ad-hoc reports and special projects for the Accounting & Finance department as assigned.
Participate in committee or group work to improve financial and/or department performance.
Stay current on the latest developments such as federal and state codes, regulations, guidelines, etc.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a minimum of three (3) years staff accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software & systems; Microsoft Office Suite applications & tools; ERP systems.
