ABOUT IBERIA COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER:Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center (ICCHC) and its satellite health centers are the leading providers of primary health care services in the communities we serve, including individuals who are both insured and uninsured. ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services. Our finance department provides the general administration of the Center’s finances.
ICCHC is currently seeking a full time Staff Accountant for its New Iberia, LA location.
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance in implementation and administration of the Center’s policies on finance, accounting, purchasing, insurance, financial/accounting systems, internal controls and auditing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Shows working knowledge of all accounting software applications used by the Fiscal Department.
· Accurately prepares payroll and/or works with contracted Payroll Administrator to ensure accurate preparation of payroll including all reporting requirements and payments of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll liabilities.
· Adheres to Fiscal Policies and Procedures.
· Accurately maintains employee payroll deductions for insurances and benefits.
· Attends other meetings as CFO/Director of Finance proxy as assigned.
· Accurately and timely processes all accounts payable and maintains vendor records.
· Assist the Accounts/Receivable Department in processing patient and third-party billing in order to maintain accurate and reasonable Accounts Receivable.
· Assist the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance in maintaining the General Ledger by preparing necessary monthly and interim journal entries.
· Prepares monthly bank reconciliations of all of the Center’s bank accounts.
· Assist the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance in preparation of monthly and interim financial statements and in working with independent accounting firm in preparing annual audit.
· Present financial statements to Senior Management and Board of Directors when Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance is unavailable.
· Works with senior staff in preparation of budgets, grants and reporting as required of all Federally Qualified Health Centers as per the Bureau of Primary Health Care.
· Maintain confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the institution.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. EDUCATION: Minimum requirements of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
2. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirement of 5 years experience in accounting including the use of accounting software, spreadsheet applications and word processing software.
3. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have working knowledge in the following areas of accounting: bookkeeping, payroll and human resources, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
4. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is primarily sedentary. Large amounts of time may be spent using a personal computer and multi-key telephone.
