SUMMARY: Under general direction of Manager of Finance, performs variety of professional accounting duties to maintain general accounting systems for Gateway and affiliates. Prepares accounting/finance-related reports from financial data. RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares journal entries for assigned accounts; ensures that all account activity has been recorded, all corrections have been made, all adjustments have been calculated, and all closing entries prepared on a timely basis. Reviews trial balances in order to identify and resolve input and accounting errors. Reconciles assigned accounts on a timely basis, preparing account analyses and reports as required. May verify internal consistency, completeness and mathematical accuracy of repetitive accounting documents according to standard procedures and methods. Reviews for proper authorization and adequate documentation. Consults with senior personnel on problems or discrepancies. Maintains and reconciles cash accounts and prepares daily cash reports for Brown University Health's affiliates. May contact department managers in order to review accounting related data and assist personnel with accounting issues and questions. May work with Financial Operations and Information Systems personnel to coordinate the update, reconciliation and reporting of assigned areas of responsibility. Assists in the preparation of schedules and analyses required for annual financial statement audit. Interacts routinely with audit staff to respond to inquiries. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: A level of knowledge generally obtained through a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Must be computer literate, especially in the use of spreadsheet and word processing programs. EXPERIENCE: One year of professional accounting experience, preferably in a health care environment. Work is performed in a typical office environment requiring extended periods of sitting.
Pay Range:
$57,340.19-$94,602.87
