Role Summary:
Mutual of America is seeking an Accountant who will be a key member of the Corporate Accounting team who will be responsible for month-end general ledger close, account reconciliations, and various other projects working under the Office of the Controller. The accountant will assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger analysis, and for completing aspects of the monthly financial close. This position will also work closely with the Corporate Tax department and be responsible for analyzing daily withholdings, as well as assisting with quarterly and annual filings
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to support an accurate and timely monthly financial close
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls and GAAP
- Collaborate with various business units to ensure accurate financial data flow.
- Work on team and individual ad-hoc projects assigned
- Continuously improve process enhancements for efficiency, accuracy, and automation
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of processes related to accounting procedures and internal controls
- Assist with organizing and maintaining tax documents, records, and files.
- Perform data entry and ensure accuracy in tax-related information
- Prepare and process routine tax forms, reports, and correspondence
- Help ensure compliance with deadlines by tracking document submissions and due dates
- Provide general administrative support, such as copying, mailing, phones calls to taxing authorities, while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive client and company information
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of accounting experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Omni)
- Experience in the Financial Services Industry

The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for quarterly commissions (uncapped), whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.
