We’re looking to expand our .team across the board.

York Space Systems is seeking a Chief Accounting Officer (“CAO”) to join our finance team based in our Greenwood Village office. You will have the unique opportunity to partner across functions to support York’s growth and success. This is a high-profile role, reporting to the CFO, and you will be expected to progressively take on more roles and responsibilities over time.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal policies.
  • Lead and manage the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, inventory accounting, and tax functions.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in line with industry best practices.
  • Support the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, transactions, and new regulations (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842).
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team to build capabilities and career progression.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, legal, and compliance teams to ensure financial considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Implement and manage financial systems, upgrades, and process improvements including implementation of best-in-class accounting processes in the the ERP system (Oracle Fusion)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • CPA certification required.
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting and tax regulations.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm and/or publicly traded company preferred.
  • Prior experience as CAO desired, but not required.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficient in financial systems and ERPs (Oracle Fusion is preferred).
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
