Description:
Aspey, Watkins & Diesel is a 22-attorney, general services law firm serving Northern Arizona for over 50 years. The Staff Accountant role supports the law firm's Financial Controller and performs key functions within the accounting office.*Minimum Qualifications:*
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
· Two years of increasingly responsible accounting experience required, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
*Required Skills/Abilities:*
· Thorough understanding of accounting practices and procedures
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and accounting software
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
· Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
· Ability to work well under pressure
*Preferred Skills:*
· Understanding of trust/IOLTA accounting and compliance requirements
· Experience with practice management software (e.g., Centerbase, Litify, Clio, or equivalent)
*Duties/Responsibilities:*
· Review vendor invoices for accuracy, ensure proper approvals, and allocate costs to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
· Maintain up-to-date vendor records, collect and manage W-9 forms, and prepare annual 1099 filings in compliance with IRS requirements.
· Ensure compliance with firm policies, GAAP, and state bar trust accounting regulations.
· Prepare and process client expense payments in a timely and accurate manner.
· Record and track client settlements and related disbursements.
· Monitor expenses and assess cash flow needs to support firm operations.
· Review and process attorney and staff expense reimbursement requests.
· Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
· Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
· Maintain current knowledge of accounting principles, industry regulations, and best practices.
· Engage in professional development and continuing education relevant to the position.
· Perform other related accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
