The Accountant I will primarily manage electronic claim submission, reimbursements and denied claims from MediCal, Community Care Transitions, MediCal waiver program, Community Living Fund’s In-Home Operations waiver programs, HCBA waiver program (Home and Community Based Alternatives Waiver), MSSP (Multiple Senior Service Program) and other contract billing.

Essential Job Function(s)

Processing, Preparing, and Reconciliation:

  • Processing documents such as invoices and journal vouchers and issuing payments.
  • Processing employee reimbursement.
  • Preparing analysis of accounts and producing monthly report.
  • Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Reconciling related accounts receivable (“A/R”) accounts in the general ledger monthly.


Research and Review:

  • Researching and resolving claim denials/errors.
  • Reviewing and resolving claim submission errors.
  • Researching, documenting and making recommendations for improving policies, standards and procedures to improve billing and collection processes.


Miscellaneous:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly Medi-Cal, Medicare, MSSP, CLF, other health plan and city contract billings.
  • Producing City and County of San Francisco monthly invoices for timely submission on the Carbon System and maintaining reconciliations of billings to the general ledger.
  • Providing successful follow-up efforts for A/R including appeals process for denied claims.
  • Tracking and providing follow up of outstanding receivables.
  • Achieving and maintaining established collection goals.
  • Supporting other team members as necessary.
  • Addressing all other reasonably related projects as assigned.

 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Accounting
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Lookups and Pivot tables)

  • Ability to speak and comprehend English as the primary language used in the workplace; ability to speak and/or comprehend other languages utilized by our staff is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Utilize specific vision abilities for viewing work related processes and materials handling.
  • Talk or hear during face-to-face communications in a noisy office space.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Possess multi-limb and eye-hand coordination.
  • Sit at desk for prolonged periods of time while working on computers and phones.
  • May be required to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing more than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance.

This position is slated to end December 30th, 2024.
