Overview of Job:

The Audit Manager – Nonprofit Organizations consults and works successfully with Partners, Principals and other Managers to ensure seamless integrated services.  Also, works with nonprofit clients to understand their business and industry in order to provide ongoing services, insights and support.  The position will also assist with developing and planning the nonprofit practice strategy, objectives, business development, and budgets. 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees all phases of assigned audit, compilation or review engagements
  • Manages agreed upon clients and workload
  • Seeks regular client assessment of assignment progress and overall feedback on performance
  • Ensures work papers and client deliverables are accurate, of high quality and comply with the required firm and professional standards 
  • Maintains current knowledge and understanding of the audit practice to add value to clients and be seen as a technical go to within the nonprofit practice
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional standards, laws and regulations, and corporate governance requirements
  • Advises clients and the audit practice on various economic and regulatory risks, resolves complex accounting issues, and understands proficiently GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance
  • Writes technical consultation memos on GAAP / GAAS / GAGAS / Uniform Guidance issues, and documenting, validating, testing and assessing various financial reporting control systems
  • Manages compliance and quality control for the firm by working with peer reviewers/inspectors to ensure professional standards are met
  • Works with Partners and Principals to develop and conduct training for the nonprofit practice and our nonprofit clients
  • Leads team members as assigned, assisting them with mentoring, goal setting, reviewing and discussing career paths

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • BS/MS Accounting
  • CPA qualification
  • 8+ years of nonprofit audit experience
  • Yellow Book and Uniform Guidance experience preferred
