Overview / Job Responsibilities::
At ACT1 Federal, our people make the difference. We are looking for a Senior Project Accountant to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. This position reports to the Controller and is a hybrid position based out of our Crystal City, VA headquarters three days a week (Tuesday/ Wednesday/Thursday) and will work from home Monday/ Friday.


Processing transactions and monitoring projects is a large part of the Project Accountant’s day-to-day work. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.

In this role, a typical day will include:
  • Supporting Controller on monthly accounting close functions.
  • Reviewing contracts to identify requirements for project set up in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Working closely with PMs and PCAs.
  • Assisting in the preparation of yearly Incurred Cost Submission.
  • Generating invoices for Fixed Price, T&M, CPFF projects in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Submitting invoices into Wide Area Work Flow and IPP.
  • Preparing and managing monthly unbilled analysis.
  • Preparing, tracking, and recording monthly accruals for subcontractors.
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses as assigned.
  • Supporting accounts payable, expense reporting and check run activities as needed.
  • Supporting annual audit by CPA firm.
  • Assisting with other accounting projects.
Minimum Qualifications::

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 year of experience in accounting in a government contracting environment.
  • Experience with US Government contracting and familiarity with contract types including FFP, CP and T&M.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FAR, DFARS, and GAAP requirements.
  • Must have hands on experience using Deltek CostPoint 8.1
  • Excellent organizing abilities and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and works well in a team
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen
