Watson Clinic is seeking a Director, Patient Financial Services (Revenue Cycle) to join their team. This position is responsible for directing the department to provide high quality medical coding, insurance billing, payment posting and customer service to patients, physicians and administrators through the establishment and execution of departmental goals and the efficient and effective utilization of department human resources.
o Directs the operations of the Business Office.
o Maintains acceptable performance by established standards for Accounts Receivable, Days in A/R, Net Clinic revenue, collections, credit balances and refunds, as well as gross charges.
o Develops and maintains policies to ensure billing/medical coding compliance in accordance with State and Federal Health Care Regulatory Laws. Ensures that billing templates (manual and electronic), as well as physician and staff training on medical coding are provided, updated, and delivered timely.
o Safeguards Clinic funds. Analyzes third-party payer reimbursements rates, sets fees for Clinic services, oversees in-house audits of accounts for accuracy of medical coding, oversees payment posting and analyzes claim denials.
o Prepares department staffing and capital expenditure budgets annually and practice effective fiscal management.
o Responsible for department managers’ development, training, and performance.
o Exhibits a proficient understanding of the Practice Management System and the duties of the staff assigned to each area of the department.
o Addresses the concerns, inquires and requests of patients, Physicians, Administration, Clinical Directors, PFS staff and others regarding business office related issues.
o Make recommendations to the Administration, QIRM, Senior Management, Finance Committee and Board of Directors regarding the PFS Department Operations.
o Adheres to guidelines set by the Clinics Compliance Program, following all Health Care Regulatory Laws on medical coding, billing, and reporting of compliance issues. Maintains confidentiality of Clinic materials. Serves on the Compliance Committee and Finance Committee.
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for performance management and hiring of the employees within the department.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in Physician Practice Management (Business Office and Operations). Current knowledge of State and Federal Laws and regulations, and other current events impacting healthcare.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s level degree in Business Administration or another related field. Two years of experience at the Director Level in a large Physician Group Practice. CPC Certification and other related certifications (i.e., HFMA, CREC, AHIMA, etc.) are a plus.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and exercise appropriate judgement. Excellent computer skills with high level proficiency using spreadsheets. Excellent analytical skills with CPC analytical skills preferred.
