Experienced staff accountant that has an understanding of healthcare and performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, processing of monthly closing journal entries, reconciling and maintenance of general ledger accounts, maintaining the fixed asset system and proper accounting for capital assets,
developing and maintaining budgets, processing and maintaining statistical information, processing and distributing of labor productivity reports and working as finance liaisons with department managers.

JOB DUTIES
1. Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values.
2. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information. Also maintains confidentiality of information as required by organizational policies.
3. Prepares and processes more complex monthly closing journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
4. Reconciles and maintains more complex general ledger accounts in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with corporate reconciliation policies and procedures.
5. Prepares monthly financial statements, reviews for completeness and accuracy, analyzes for any month end accruals that may need to be made, and works closely with the controller on any issues found in a timely manner.
6. Monitors daily cash position to ensure adequate cash balances and forecasts to ensure no negative balances arise. Communicates balances periodically to the Controller and brings any low balance or negative issues/projections to the attention of the Controller immediately.
7. Prepares year-end audit work papers to be submitted to external or internal auditors in a timely and accurate manner.
8. Prepares federal and state tax returns and other regulatory filings for areas of responsibility or as directed.
9. Accumulates and maintains statistical information for financial reporting purposes in a timely and accurate manner.
10. Processes and maintains labor productivity reports on a bi-weekly basis for distribution to management and answers questions from managers in a timely and professional manner.
11. Assists in development and maintenance of benchmarking procedures for monitoring departmental productivity standards through use of various informational tools.
12. Accounts for capital purchases in the fixed asset system in accordance with the company’s capitalization policy and accounting requirements in timely and accurate manner. Reconciles general ledger fixed asset and construction in progress accounts to subsidiary ledger in a timely and accurate manner.
13. Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and long range financial planning as directed.
14. Maintains a positive attitude, team oriented and assists other staff members as directed with positive customer service skills.
15. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Education: Knowledge of accounting principles and techniques normally acquired by completing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field in order to prepare financial statements. CPA preferred. May substitute degree for long-term experience in certain areas.

Licensure: None.
Experience: 1-3 years experience in accounting related position, and healthcare experience preferred.
Other Job Requirements:
Strong financial systems skills and Microsoft Office software. Understanding of not-for-profit accounting and tax filing requirements .
