Argo Group US currently has a challenging opportunity for an Accountant, located in our San Antonio, TX office or remotely. Under general supervision, this enthusiastic, self-motivated individual will be part of a team-oriented environment supporting multiple individuals, Managers and Senior Leadership within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Company policies and procedures.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for areas of functional responsibility. Activities performed include preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, management reports and other financial analysis as required.
  • Support monthly cash management processes. Activities performed include preparation of cash journal entries, cash account reconciliations, intercompany transfer settlements, and provide cash research support for application team.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual Statutory insurance company financial statements and supporting schedules as required for financial reporting.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Other Accounting duties and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
  • 2-4 years of Accounting Experience (public company preferred)
  • Experience in month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes and account reconciliation required
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, and Word. Must be comfortable using MS Access.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate the accuracy of data and information.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, auditing and budgeting principles.
  • Excellent PC skills to input and manipulate data.
The published salary range applies to applicants that reside in the state of Colorado. The salary range for this role is $70.00 - $ 82.00. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
