POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking an enthusiastic Management Accountant to join our team who will assist the CFO in setting up systems and processes that will enable the organization to scale from a current profile of 21 open Gold’s Gyms to 40 by the year 2025.

Our pledge to our future is focused on 4 major initiatives and you will experience us talking about these daily: # Enhance the member experience # Improve Employee Efficiency #Retention #40 X 2025 The person in this role will coordinate the daily progress and activities of the accounting staff and be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial statements in a simplified and efficient manner. This person will also assist the CFO in their role in compiling backup financial information and analytics for monthly financial presentation meetings with the leadership group. This is the perfect position for a strong Sr. Level Accountant with some management and practical business experience who aspires to become a Controller as our organization grows. This is a primarily onsite role at our office in Northridge California as there is a need to be present for visitors and to be an onsite resource for the team members who are based at the office. Over time, it may evolve to a somewhat hybrid (onsite/remote) role that is coordinated with other executive leadership.   • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Highly preferred is experience with Sage Intacct. Practical knowledge in a similar cloud-based application is acceptable with a commitment to learning Intacct as quickly as practical.
  • Awareness of business trends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Develop, prepare and present all monthly reports, budgets, forecasts, and daily cash flow updates.
    • Critical to this role is a strong report-writing aptitude. This will be a collaborative effort with the CFO, But the development and execution of the reports will be the responsibility of the person in this role.
    • General accounting functions include accruals, prepaid and amortization, recording journal entries, account reconciliations preparation, and fixed assets.
    • Accurately prepare complex accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
    • Act as the lead liaison with our CPA form for PBC reports, financial results, and follow-up questions to assure timely delivery of annual Reviewed Statements to satisfy lender covenants and the annual tax returns.
    • Prepare and analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
    • Develop and prepare annual budgets in alignment with the CFO and upload them to the ERP (Sage Intacct). We are a nimble organization and updated forecasts must also be uploaded in alignment with the CFO.
    • Custom Report Writing is a core competency for this position. If extra training in Intacct reporting is necessary, the company will provide the resources to do so and this will be a critical initiative.
    • Participate in monthly financial report meeting with the executive team including the CEO, COO, CFO, and Vice Presidents.
    • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and results.
    • Provide technical support and advice within the company.
    • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
    • Participate in financial the financial forecast and budgeting process.
    • Provide input into the department’s goal-setting process.
    • Support month-end and year-end close process.
    • Actively participate as a leader in ERP and other system upgrades or conversions.
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
    • Liaise with our Analyst, Assistant Controller, and CFO to improve financial procedures.
    • Assist with Accounts Payable as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES In collaboration with the CFO, Director of Operations, and COO, overseeing the daily activity of the office (Support Center). EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience as an accounting supervisor, or senior accountant
  • Practical management/leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
  • An associate degree will be acceptable with proven related experience. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like Sage Intacct (Our ERP) or Dynamics GP
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Advanced knowledge of custom report writing.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, clients, public groups, and/or boards of directors. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and communicate the information effectively.
