Staff Accountant – Financial Controls

The candidate will be responsible for assessing financial control effectiveness across the NYP entities including NYPH, Regional Hospitals and Medical Groups. Conduct walk-throughs with key process and controls owners across the NYP Enterprise and maintain significant business process flows related to internal control over financial reporting in narrative and flowchart forms using MS Word and Visio. Key business processes are diverse and include financial reporting, revenue cycle, procure-to-pay, hire-to-retire, real estate, investments, development and more. Identify and classify key controls over financial reporting. Develop related audit procedures.

Conduct tests of controls to determine design and operating effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting. Organize and present test results to formulate conclusions on operating effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting.

Develop and recommend process improvements and action plans to remediate any control deficiencies identified. Perform follow-up audit procedures for remediation plans implemented to ensure effectiveness.

Participate in additional projects that help improve financial controls and related processes.

Required Criteria

  • Bachelors’ degree, majoring in Accounting
  • Minimum of 6 months previous experience in auditing
  • Knowledge of general acceptable accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interview and analytical skills
