About the job

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and pitch in where needed. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support business objectives.

The Consolidation Accounting team in Corporate Accounting manages critical month-end close and the consolidation process. We manage the SAP S4 GL and BPC consolidation system to make sure the accounting period is closed timely without any issue. Our work intersects with various teams in Finance and Corporate Engineering, including Business Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, and many others. We are also involved in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration and transaction automation related to S4 and BPC. We strive to support, innovate and be impactful.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain S4/BPC applications including the maintenance of metadata, rules, revaluation, and translation.
  • Be the point person for the resolution of all S4/BPC issues, subledger to general ledger errors, errors in posting, cross-validation questions, and requests for SAP maintenance.
  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, year-end consolidation close process.
  • Manage and execute on revaluation, translation, open/close periods, uploading sub-ledgers to general ledger, consolidation and feeds to other systems (e.g., S4 to BW to BPC and DRM to MDG).
