Department Summary

The Division of Global Engagement (DGE) works to make the University of Oregon a more global university. In 21st century higher education, international engagement is not an optional extra: as noted in UO's Academic Plan, it is a core mission essential to a thriving, socially salient, intellectually robust academic community. It is part of the normal functioning of every school, college, department, and center. DGE works to support and integrate the wide range of international engagements, global-scale projects, and transnational partnerships launched and maintained in our many academic units. More information is available on UO’s Division of Global Engagement website at Units within DGE consist of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Education Oregon (GEO), Global Studies Institute (GSI), and Mills International Center.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide accounting, budgeting, and reporting services to the DGE central administration team and each of the programmatic units. This position is responsible for the accurate allocation and classification of revenue and expenditures for DGE programs, reconciliation of DGE accounts, preparation of financial statements, and maintenance of accounting controls. This position is also responsible for record keeping of DGE's UO Foundation accounts. This position works closely with other DGE central administration financial positions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with CPA or PA certificate; OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of college-level Accounting, OR
  • 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of Accounting courses and three years of Accounting experience.*

  • Accounting experience must include at least 3 of the following:
  • Preparing transactions to be recorded in records of original entry;
  • Preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries;
  • Summarizing data from a ledger to a trial balance;
  • Closing accounts at the end of an accounting period;
  • Applying PC spreadsheet, database, and word processing software;
  • Processing data using a computer.

Professional Competencies

  • Proficient computer skills, with emphasis on MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate detailed accounting information to faculty and staff.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of CPA, CMA, or MBA
