Full Job Description
Performs managerial and expert-level professional duties in general accounting, budgeting, payroll, contract and grant management and finance. Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) theories and techniques in analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts and in the maintenance of accounting system. Coordinates GAAP reporting between the agency and the State Comptroller General's office. Ensures the accurate documentation of all financial transactions and the timely payment and receipt of all moneys. Prepares summary financial statements; balances and reconciles accounts and verifies accounting information. Determines funding sources, funding availability and assists in the formulation and monitoring of agency budgets. Recommends and assists in developing and implementing agency policies and procedures related to areas in financial management. Provides technical advice on budgetary information. Assists in the development of grants, formulation of grant budgets and preparation of the agency's indirect cost policy and rate. Directs the accounting for sale of agency surplus property and equipment. Provides technical guidance to staff and reviews and assesses staff training and development needs. Performs other related duties in support of the agency's mission and strategic plan.
Bachelor's degree plus 15 semester hours in accounting related courses plus 5 years professional experience directing professional accounting, auditing, banking or finance employees; or, master's degree plus 15 semester hours in accounting related courses plus 3 years of professional experience directing professional accounting, auditing, banking, or finance employees.
