ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPSPSONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   • Payroll preparation and the ability to work closely with human resources
  • Primary person responsible for processing general ledger postings, prepares general ledger reconciliations/schedules, and processes journal entries
  • Assists in preparing the annual budget, monitoring monthly budget reports, and assists departments in meeting budgetary goals and objectives
  • Prepares cash reconciliations and investment reports
  • Processes tax deposits and posts to the general ledger and reconciles tax office reports
  • Facilitates and prepares for the annual audit Tracks fixed assets, prepares fixed asset schedules, and updates replacements schedules
  • Assists with purchasing/accounts payable tasks including vendor packages, purchase requisitions/orders, and 1099's
  • Prepares quarterly and annual payroll returns
  • Reconciles payments made to benefit plans in accordance with City policies
  • Generate monthly internal financial reports and submit for approval with any comments/observations and distribute reports
  • Review and assess processes for effectiveness and efficiency and make recommendations for improvement
  • Participate in the development of Accounting policies and procedures and keep written procedures of activities performed
  • Assist other Finance team members as appropriate; function as the lead Accountant
  • Perform assigned special projects Monitors, revises, and ensures compliance with financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Reconciles amounts used for Capital Projects Works with Grant Manager and provide accounting schedules for Grant Funds as required
  • Subject to 24 hour recall: The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.
